Finsec and AMI claims – Negotiations 2007

FINSEC/AMI CLAIMS - NEGOTIATIONS 2007

Finsec Members Claims (both the General and Assessors' Collectives)

5% Pay increase

A claim for an across the board increase to salaries and allowances of 5%.

Medical subsidy increase and eye wear

A claim to increase the company medical scheme subsidy to $500 per annum effective after two years.

A claim that AMI meet the costs of prescription eye-wear, and where existing eye-wear needs to be upgraded, the cost of new lenses by 100%, and to increase the amount claim to see an optometrist to $70.

Term of agreement

A one year term, effective from 1 May 2007 to 30 April 2008.

Staffing and workloads

Finsec has raised the following points for discussion with AMI on workloads and staffing:

AMI General Collective Employment Agreement Claims

Removal of roles from the collective agreement

AMI proposes to remove the following roles from being covered by the terms and conditions set through the collective coverage

Term

A two-year term effective 1 May 2007 to 30 April 2009.

Pay increase

AMI propose the salary offer of 4% for 2007 and 3.75% for 2008 subject to agreement to a two year term and being ratified by the 18 May 2007.

Changes to performance assessments

Removal of competency assessments for the Claims Collection Officers (outlined in Schedule B of CEA) and the Customer Service Managers (Clause 2.1.5). Employees in these roles will in the future be assessed based on experience and knowledge determined by the company.

Increases to allowances and meal money

AMI propose increasing the Senior CSO allowance to $1,650.

AMI propose to increase meal money to $10.00 and $10.50 for both years.

Technical changes

AMI propose a number of changes which they consider reflect current practice. They are as follows:

Qualifications Clause 2.2.3 - 2.2.5 - Is no longer applicable as these were transitional provisions.

Payment of Salaries Clause 2.3.1 - Staff to be paid for their annual leave in their fortnightly pay when they are on holiday.

Deletion of clause 2.3.2 - This clause entitles employees to be paid the day before a public holiday if a pay day occurs on the public holiday. AMI proposes   employees will be paid as normal.

Clause 2.3.7 - This clause outlines the process for AMI to recover an overpayment to an employee. AMI propose the last paragraph be deleted which provides for an employee to challenge the repayment amounts based on their financial circumstances.

Termination of Employment Clause 4.0.3 - AMI propose to reduce the number of days from 5 to 3 when an employee is absent from work and can be deemed to have abandoned their employment.   AMI also propose to delete section (ii) of this clause where through unavoidable circumstances an employee is unable to notify AMI abandonment shall not apply.

Use of Private Vehicle Clause 4.2.1 - To delete "and agrees" from this clause as it is an express condition of employment in relieving positions.  

Clause 4.2.3 - Deletion of this clause for additional insurance as AMI self-insurers on a case by case basis as required.

Redundancy and Redeployment Provisions - Clause 5.1.2 Redeployment - To delete "housing loan benefits" as AMI no longer provides loans to employees.

Clause 5.5 - Staff Loans - Clause 5.5.1- To delete this in its entirety as AMI says no longer provides loans to employees.

Health and Safety - Clause 6.4 - Amend the current wording to say that an employee operating a keyboard shall not perform such duties for more than 50 minutes in each 60 minute period to minimize OOS risks and ensure employees are taking their OOS breaks.

Clause 6.5 - Is no longer relevant

Term
