KEY POINTS:
•
Finsec organisers are visiting a number of AMI worksites over the next two weeks to talk with staff about how we can build our future at AMI by working together.
•
We are conducting a survey to find out what are our issues at work in preparation for our collective agreements negotiations next year.
•
Finsec members have achieved some great outcomes this year. Our visits are the first step in bringing this campaign to AMI.
Finsec - on the way to you soon
Finsec organisers will be visiting AMI workplaces in the next couple of weeks to survey staff about your issues at work, and talk about Finsec and our goal of creating a better future for staff at AMI. If your site is not being visited by Finsec and you would like the opportunity to participate in the survey, please email union@finsec.org.nz and we will organise for a survey to sent to your worksite.
These visits will provide an opportunity for all AMI staff to talk to Finsec organisers.
What is Finsec?
Finsec is the major union in the finance industry, with members in our four biggest banks and at different employers throughout the insurance industry.
Finsec members campaign for a better industry, and in the past year we have made significant gains in pay and conditions.
Finsec members win big wage increases
Finsec members have negotiated some of the best wage increases in the country over the past year. Successful outcomes include wage increases above the national average pay increase of 3.5% (recorded in Statistics New Zealand Labour Cost Index, year to June 2008).
These statistics also show that in the last two quarters, finance and insurance pay have been the highest or second highest of any sector, and that these increases are due to collective bargaining.
Please make time to speak with Finsec
We now want to achieve similar success at AMI, and the visits to take place over the next two weeks are the first step in that process. They will also help identify the priority issues that AMI staff would like to campaign to improve in the next year. So please make sure you take time to talk with our Finsec organisers when they are on site over the coming weeks.
