Offer accepted after hard-fought campaign
The majority of Finsec members voted to accept ANZ National’s proposed collective employment agreement offer last week, after a hard-fought campaign failed to convince the bank to increase their offer.
66% of Finsec members at ANZ National participated in the ratification ballot. Of these, 1313 (or 77% of those who voted) voted in favour of accepting the bank’s offer. 385 (23% of those voting) rejected the bank’s offer.
This ballot took place after a very close vote to go to ratification at unpaid stopwork meetings on 22 August, and good participation in industrial action in Auckland, Rotorua and Wellington and some smaller centres.
Staffing and targets a top priority
This settlement leaves key staff concerns at the bank unresolved. Staffing and targets have been identified as top priorities for the Better Banks campaign this year.
The campaign around bargaining showed that we have good support from customers and the wider community for addressing these issues. We will be finalising plans for the staffing and targets campaign over the next few weeks.
Settlement
The bank has been notified of the result of this ratification vote and the new pay rates and back pay to August 1 will be processed shortly.
