2008 Meetings:
"Unite to Win!"
2008 will be a critical year both in terms of our union’s future and of making more progress on the key issues workers have in the finance sector. To kick start the 2008 campaign we are uniting to win and running industry wide stop-work meetings in February/March.
All members are asked to attend these important meetings where you will have the opportunity to discuss the progress made so far and have your say on the plans and objectives for 2008 that will be the key to what we can win together this coming year.
2007 saw gains with good pay rises for many, moves on pay parity and agreements being reached on staffing and target reviews to happen this year. There is much more to do to achieve our goal of Better Banks though, and a lot of it will happen this year.
The best possible start to the campaign would be the very high attendance of members nationally at these meetings, sending the message to employers across the industry that we are serious about making more and better progress on the issues that concern us.

Better Banks is a three year campaign that runs across all banks.
Finsec members have achieved a lot over recent years. Our new approach to campaigning has meant that all the banks are watching us to see what is coming next! We believe that the Best of Both campaign in ANZ National helped deliver a fairer pay system in Westpac, and likewise the Westpac campaign against targets last year helped ensure a fair new pay system in ANZ National this year. But there are still some big issues that are common across all banks that need fixing. If we work together we have the best chance of introducing industry-wide standards around issues like pay and pay systems, targets, under staffing, stress, investment in staff training, and investment in high quality customer service.
