Dear Finsec delegates and members,
Please find enclosed in this pack all the information you will need to make sure that every Finsec member from your site can attend the upcoming paid union meetings launching our ‘Better Banks’ industry campaign. The meetings are an opportunity for Finsec members from across all banks, credit unions and building societies to come together to build a plan to improve our work and workplaces for us and our customers.
Meeting times, dates and venues
In this pack is a schedule for all the meetings around the country. The meetings are listed North (Kerikeri to Otorohanga, including Auckland and Hamilton) Central (Tokoroa to Wellington) and South (Nelson to Invercargill, including Chrisrchurch and Dunedin).
You will need to find the meeting that is in your city or town, or the most convenient location for you to attend. We are not able to run meetings in every town so some members will need to travel to the meeting nearest to where you work. For those sites where travel is too far, we have booked you teleconferences. The details of these teleconferences are listed here.

Your attendance at these meetings is important
These are the most important meetings Finsec has run for years. We cannot improve our pay, staffing levels and reduce injury and stress unless all members are involved. It is essential we make sure these paid meetings are well attended so that all members are well informed and participate in our strategy for improving our terms and conditions right across the industry. Every union member has a right to attend one of the meetings and your manager is legally required to release you to attend. That means there may be some disruption to your working day, but if we get a great launch then it will pay off in the long run.
Delegates to book members into meetings
In this pack there is a sheet for delegates to fill in. Please write in the sheet the name of each member at your site and the location and time of the meeting they will be going to. You may need to work this through with your manager to see what works best for your site. We suggest a fairly even split of members across the meetings to be held in your town or city.
Once you have filled in this sheet please fax it back to Finsec on 04 385 2214. A Finsec organiser will be in contact with you shortly to talk you through this process. If you have any questions or problems with this please call 0800 FINSEC and we will be able to help you.
We have also included a diary note for you to give to each member where they can write down the details of the meeting they will be attending and put it somewhere as a reminder so they don’t forget.
