March-April 2006

News in Brief

Lumley Associates has recently settled an agreement with members after protracted negotiations in late 2005 and early 2006. The union saw a big growth in membership numbers and activity. This led to members achieving some of the best annual leave provisions in the industry (employees with 6 years service will receive 24 days annual leave per year) and a working party to look at sick leave arrangements.

Members at Diners Club won a 5% pay rise in late 2005 after having received low pay increases for a number of years previously.

Finsec is running a significant recruitment campaign in AMI. Delegates there are arguing that AMI is a good place to work but they need to maintain a collective agreement with increased numbers of workers who are covered by it to protect the terms and conditions that member activism has delivered to all workers in the past.

Meanwhile, negotiations are also coming up at Vero, Asteron, AA and the Otago Credit Union.
