We have a union education course that can help you.
If you're new to the union you can learn to be a union member. If you've been around a little longer you can learn to organise people. For delegates there's a course on how to lead people, and how to deal with a disciplinary action. Any Finsec member can come along and learn how to be safe and healthy at work.
All union members are entitled to attend training, which you are paid for by the bank. Members that have been on our courses say they have a much better understanding of the union afterwards and increased skills to win in the workplace. To build fair workplaces and a strong union, we need to continually educate ourselves.
Finsec’s range of courses allows you to learn about your rights at work, become more informed about techniques to build Finsec membership, and meet union members from other enterprises.
Government fund pays for your education leave
If your employer has signed a collective employment agreement then you can have paid employment leave. The Government pays for this leave with the Employment Related Education Leave (EREL) fund. Quotas for each employer are worked out from March 1 each year.
