BNZ Update
19 September 2007
KEY POINTS:
- All BNZ delegates are asked to come on to a Finsec conference call next week. The purpose of the calls is to discuss where we have got to so far with our campaign, talk about what is coming up and in the next four weeks and get your feedback and input.
- It is important that the delegate or a representative from every worksite comes on to a call so that everyone has all the information about what is happening and can be involved in the campaign.
ACTION:
Please fill in the attached fax back form to confirm which of the calls you will be attending next week and fax it back to Finsec on 04 385 2214 by 5pm this Friday, September 21. It is important that at least one person from every site is on a call.
Why are we holding conference calls?
Delegate conference calls are a great way to get important information out to delegates and members quickly. You get to give feedback on how things are going and hear from members around the country.
These calls are to review how this year's bargaining campaign is going and to give you important information about what is coming up in the four weeks until negotiations. It is really important that the delegate or another representative from each worksite is on a call.
Information about the conference calls
- Finsec covers the costs of the calls - you don't pay.
- They are held in the evening so you can call in from home with less disruption than at work.
- There are a range of times over two nights so you can pick what works best for you.
- You get to hear the experiences and perspectives of members from across the country.
- We try to keep the calls to 30 minutes maximum.
How to dial into the call
Dial 0800 115 763. Then enter the call pin number which is 763 834#. You are then in the call. If you have any problems on the night, call 0800 FINSEC and we can help you.
These negotiations are important for everyone
We are only four weeks away from negotiations. These are very important negotiations for everyone for two main reasons.
- BNZ staff and customers deserve fairer targets, better staffing levels and pay that is comparable to roles in other banks. The best way to achieve these goals is through collective bargaining.
- It is likely the bank will want to make changes to the collective agreement. We must be in a strong position to have a say about these changes and not be "steamrolled".
Grow to win changes
The best way to achieve success on these issues is to have a large number of members. If you are not yet a Finsec member join now to be part of winning changes to make BNZ a fairer and Better Bank.
